AsianWeek provides more analysis of the Asian American Action Fund report on Asian American political participation. A key excerpt:
Nationally, the report found that between 1990 and 2000, Asian American voters more than doubled from less than a million to 1.98 million. Indeed, in 2000, 2.5 million APAs were registered to vote and 83 percent actually voted. In 2004, 2.77 million APAs voted, and more than one-third of those were voting for their first time.
And another key excerpt, quoting Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA):
“In 2000, 83 percent of registered APIA voters voted. APIA voters are increasingly democratic. Depending on the survey, APIAs went anywhere from 61 percent to 74 percent for [John Kerry for president] in 2004.”
