Senator Daniel Akaka, who voted against the war, faces a primary challenge

Progressives shouldn't forget that Hawaii Democrats Daniel Akaka and Daniel Inouye were two of the 23 United States senators who voted against Joint Resolution 114 – the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002.
In March 2003, the Honolulu Advertiser ran an article in which Akaka identified key problems with the pending war:
"It will be a war without broad international support, without sufficient planning for post-conflict reconstruction and stability, without a definite exit time and strategy, and without a firm price tag," said Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawai'i, in remarks he intended to present for the record in the Senate.
Now Akaka has a primary challenger, US Rep. Ed Case, who, according to
Washington Post, has said Akaka's vote against the war was "a mistake at that time."
Let's reward a Democratic senator who had the prescience and guts to make the right call. Click here to donate to Akaka's campaign (use the box in the left hand column).
