The Nichi Bei Times has a new article about the potential impact of the growing Asian American population in California. Here's a particularly interesting tidbit:
Along with population growth, Asian Americans experienced an increase in their citizenship rate: 71 percent of Asian Americans adults are U.S. citizens by birth or naturalization, representing an increase from 67 percent in 2000, researchers said. These figures show that Asian Americans have become fully integrated into American society through citizenship.
Meanwhile, Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has just
announced that he hopes to win half of all Asian American votes in the upcoming election.
Before voting for Schwarzenegger, California Asian Americans might want to visit PowerPac.org to learn a bit more about the taped conversation in which Schwarzenegger referred to various people as "''all very hot' because of the 'black blood' and 'Latino blood.'"
