Connecticut Asian population increases, William Tong runs for State Rep

The "Norwich Bulletin" has run an article about the growth of the Asian population in Connecticut. Here's the lead:
Connecticut has the eighth-fastest growing community of Asians in the nation, but the state's Asian leaders said Tuesday they are concerned the rise comes at a time of a growing backlash to immigrants.
"There is a growing wave of xenophobia," said Sung-Ho Hwang, board president of Asian Family Services in Hartford. "It is very important that we become relevant and step out of the shadows and make a stand and a statement."
And here's the kicker:
Angela Rola, director of the Asian American Cultural Center at the University of Connecticut... noted Connecticut's General Assembly has never boasted an Asian-American legislator.
William Tong, a candidate for state representative in the 147th District, which represents parts of New Canaan and Stamford, stood among the audience of about 50 people and said he hoped to change that status at the November elections.
Kudos to Democrat William Tong on his run.
