Duckworth snubbed by national VFW PAC

11.04.06 - Posted by AsiansVote

From the AP:

Rejecting a Democratic veteran who lost her legs in Iraq, the Veterans of Foreign Wars' political action committee Friday endorsed a Republican congressional candidate with no military experience.

The endorsement of Peter Roskam in a hotly contested open seat angered some local veterans who said their posts within the 6th Congressional District were never asked if they wanted to endorse Roskam or challenger Tammy Duckworth.

Former Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey, a veteran who earned a Medal of Honor in Vietnam and lost a leg in the war, blasted the group. "They should be ashamed of themselves," Kerrey said. "They have some explaining to do to their members."

Let's hope this backfires on the Republicans. The Veteran of Foreign Wars' PAC never even contacted Duckworth to ask about her positions.
