We're on the verge of getting some election returns. Polls close in Virginia and a few other states at 7 pm -- we'll post the news as we get it. Feel free to comment below. And if your polls are still open and you haven't voted yet, what are you doing here? Go vote, and tell your friends to vote, too!
Also, please note -- no profanity, trolling, personal attacks, or threats in the comments. Play nice and have fun!
07:06 PM - Chris Bowers has pegged KY-03 as a bellweather House race. Right now it's neck-to-neck -- follow it here.
07:32 PM - CNN just projected that Democrat Ted Strickland will defeat Republican Ken Blackwell in the Ohio Governor's race. That's hugely positive news -- good to see the first Democrat coming home in Ohio, where Diebold hackability has had many of us worried.
07:58 PM - Here's a great elections return page from the DCCC -- and Fox just called IN-8 for Democrat Brad Ellsworth -- a gain for the Democrats.
09:20 PM - CNN just called the Maryland Senate race for Democrat Ben Cardin. That's a Democratic hold. Democrats also held New Jersey with Robert Menendez's victory. Big news are Democratic Senate pickups in Ohio and Pennsylvania (Santorum no more). And yes, Yarmouth has won that bellweather KY-3 House seat. Only tarnish on the apple right now is Lieberman beating Lamont in Connecticut.
10:39 PM - Squeaker in Virginia. Allen holds a 27 or 28,000 vote lead, but according to the CNN county-by-county site, the outstanding precincts come from Fairfax and Charlottesville, heavy Webb supporting counties. Fingers crossed!
11:15 PM - Democrats win the House.
11:51 PM - Hubert Vo is leading his TX State House race by 500 votes with about 21 percent of the vote counted. Click here to follow the returns.
12:03 AM - Webb takes the lead in Virginia! By about 2400 votes, with 99 percent of the vote in. EVERY VOTE COUNTS, friends! There will be an automatic recount, but it's looking good! Also worth noting is that if Webb pulls it off with this tiny a margin, Asian Americans can rightly claim to be the margin of victory here. Eric Byler and all the other Asian Americans working so hard on this race, we salute you!
12:28 AM - Vo is holding onto a 250 vote lead with 54% of the vote counted -- another squeaker! Click here to follow the returns.
12:37 AM - Duckworth's race in IL-06 is going to be a squeaker just like Webb's Senate race -- she's down by 4000 or so, but the county-by-county breakdown shows that the votes yet to be tallied appear to be coming from counties in which she's ahead. Fingers crossed!
12:43 AM - Jane Kim's San Francisco School Board race is looking good so far -- with just 6% of the vote in, Kim has more votes than any other candidate. Three candidates from the pool will win seats; Kim's at the top of the list with 12.5% of the vote. Follow the race here.
12:51 AM - Blong Xiong's ahead by just 40 votes in his Fresno City Council bid with 34 percent of the vote in. Follow it here.
12:52 AM - Alas, CNN has called CA-19 for Radanovich. Thanks for fighting the good fight, TJ Cox!
01:03 AM - We have a real chance of winning the Senate. With Ford losing in Tennessee, we have to win Virginia, Montana, and Missouri. Right now, we're ahead in all three. Follow the results here at CNN.
01:12 AM - Shoot. Still looks possible for Duckworth to win if you peek at the county-by-county breakdown, but CNN has called IL-06 for Roskam.
01:16 AM - Hubert Vo has won in Texas! By a handy margin -- 54 to 46. Sweet! Also in Houston, Republican incumbent Martha Wong has lost her race to progressive Democrat Ellen Cohen. And Republican challenger Jan Ting lost in Delaware.
01:34 AM - Democrat John Chiang has a narrow lead in his Controller's race in California -- follow the returns here.
02:09 AM - Democrat Claire McCaskill takes Missouri! Down to Montana now (and the Virginia recount). It's happening, folks.
02:15 AM - Congrats to Jane Kim, who's blown 'em away in her SF School Board run! She's come in as the top vote getter in the race -- 13.9% with 99% of precincts reporting. The top three vote getters get seats, so she's comfortably in. Click here for the numbers.
