On the eve of Super Tuesday, Momo Chang has interviewed a number of Asian Americans about their preferences in the Democratic primary. The article also contains this interesting bit of information:
In Alameda and San Francisco counties, about 40 percent to 46 percent of Asian-American voters are not affiliated with a party, and another 40 percent are registered as Democrats, based on data collected by the Asian Law Caucus and the Asian Pacific American Legal Center.
Which appears to mean that only 14 to 20 percent of Asian Americans in the Bay Area are registered Republicans. Wow. And that's not all:
With the Republican primaries closed to independents, Democrats have a chance to gain their votes.
"This is actually a huge opportunity for Democrats to recruit a swing vote," said Malcolm Yeung, staff attorney at the San Francisco-based Asian Advertisement Law Caucus.
