APIA Vote gets press in Michigan

Kudos to APIA Vote for its voter registration campaign, which has nabbed some press in Detroit. Here's an excerpt:
Dae Kim was visiting the Korean American Cultural Center in Southfield when someone asked him to do something he hadn't thought about before: register to vote.
Kim agreed, and a volunteer from Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote-Michigan registered him on the spot.
"It's important," Kim said of voting. The 57-year-old Bloomfield Hills man became a U.S. citizen last year.
And that's exactly what APIA Vote-Michigan hopes to impress upon other Asian Americans. The group has started its drive to register 2,500 Asian Americans before November's presidential election. The organization formed in 2006.
And here's a reassuring bit of info about the political affiliations of Asian Americans in Michigan:
As a group, they tend to lean Democratic, according to a 2006 exit poll of 368 Asian-American voters in Michigan. The poll, conducted by the New York-based Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, found that 66% of those surveyed were Democrats, 8% were Republicans and 25% were independent or not affiliated with any party.
